The project involves providing a modern extension to ‘The Briery’ at St. Aidan’s School in Sunderland.
The Briery is a listed building within a conservation area and houses the sixth form pupils.
A contemporary extension was constructed to provide new entrance and circulation spaces as well as extra classrooms.
The external façade consisted of a Rockpanel Rainscreen cladding system with aluminium curtain walling and flashings.
As well as the new extension internal remodeling and refurbishment was also carried out to the existing building to provide new toilets, improvement to common room areas and new kitchen facilities.
All work was carefully co-ordinated with the school to allow them to carry on their operations whilst construction activity was underway.
