The Durham Centre was a conversion of an existing industrial unit into a high quality conference centre and training centre also providing bespoke facilities for the meetings, community groups and a place of worship for the Emmanuel Church, Durham.

The design behind the Durham Centre innovation was to be the perfect setting for conference planners looking to impress and inspire their guests with its light and airy surroundings and friendly, welcoming atmosphere the idea behind the design was to be proud and enthused about welcoming people through the doors.

The project comprised providing new glass entrance with welcoming reception area, kitchen, meeting areas, 5 meeting rooms, large state of the art auditorium, fully equipped creche facilities and cutting edge conferencing equipment with Wi-Fi broadband access throughout.

A number of environmental considerations were implemented on the project by ourselves and these included the introduction of additional windows to provide natural light and ventilation, the use of local suppliers wherever possible, room heights were changed wherever possible to standard plasterboard heights to reduce waste, we ensured all timber was from a sustainable source, used high efficiency condensing boilers, introduced heat recovery units and the use of permeable surfaces to the new external carparks,
